electoral hanky-panky in Alaska? where are all those votes? November 7, 2008

I read an interesting post today from Shannyn Moore: looks like there may be some serious missing votes in Alaska.  No proof here, folks, but she does present quite a head-scratcher.

This year, early voters set a new record. As of last Thursday, with 4 days left to vote early, 15,000 Alaskans showed up-shattering the old record set in 2004 by 28%! Consider the most popular governor in history-and now the most polarizing-was on the Republican ticket. Consider the historic nature of this race; the first African American presidential candidate EVER! The second woman to ever make a presidential ticket; and she’s one of our own. Despite that, we’re supposed to believe that overall participation DECREASED by 11%. Not only that, but this historic election both nationally and for Alaska HAD THE LOWEST ALASKA TURNOUT FOR A PRESIDENTIAL RACE EVER!!! That makes sense. REALLY??? Something stinks.

I remember well the 2004 election with Ohio–though Bush may still have taken the state, there were clearly several instances of sheer voter fraud from the Republican side that benefitted him.  And now it sounds like Alaska may have gotten into the game (though of course Palin would never use her political might for personal reasons).  Just because McCain may have won the state anyway doesn’t excuse disenfranchising 11% of the population (or more!).  The question is, will this be investigated?

After all the times the Republicans have rigged precincts, hired guys like Diebold to make shitty automated voting machines with no oversight, and then turned around and cried foul at a truly great organization such as ACORN when some dude at the mall wrote down “Mickey Mouse” as a name for their voter lists, it’s clear that we need voter reform ASAP.  One of the biggest goals of this administration and of this Democratic congress needs to be to undo all the jerryrigging that conservatives have done to our electoral systems, as well as to our media, to how we contract services in time of war, to how we conduct ourselves on the national stage–okay, to just about everything.

Palin goes from most to least popular candidate September 18, 2008

The favorability ratings for Sarah Palin slipped over just the course of this week.  Sure, the lustre of a charming female candidate from a rugged and mysterious state initially gave McCain a huge boost and stole Obama’s post-speech podium power.  But in the sober light of day, the more we know about Sarah Palin, the less we like:

Since Sept. 13, Palin’s unfavorables have climbed from 30 percent to 36 percent. Meanwhile, her favorables have slipped from 52 percent to 48 percent. That’s a three-day net swing of -10 points, and it leaves her in the Sept. 15 Diageo/Hotline tracking poll tied for the smallest favorability split (+12)** of any of the Final Four. [UPDATE: The Sept. 17 Diageo/Hotline tracking poll shows Palin at 47 percent favorable and 37 percent unfavorable--an even narrower +10 split.] Over the course of a single weekend, in other words, Palin went from being the most popular White House hopeful to the least.

It’s probably no coincidence that as Palin’s star has started to fall, Obama’s lead has ever-so-slightly returned.  It’s my guess that as Troopergate escalates and Palin’s total inability to grasp foreign policy becomes apparent, her advantage to the McCain ticket will become zilch.  And that goes double for when the Hillary Dems who’ve abandoned the party slowly start realizing they still want a healthy planet and a pro-choice President.

Sarah Palin condoned mistreatment of rape victims in Wasilla September 10, 2008

Isn’t it funny how much fetid crap there is to talk about when it comes to Sarah Palin?  McCain would be a terrible leader, but Sarah Palin is a retarded, hypocritical, abortion-hating, moralizing moose-shooter who can’t keep her hands out of questionable funds.

And now I learn that under her watch, the police chief she appointed charged women for their own rape kits!  She had enough money in her public coffers to build a money-pit sports arena thingie, but not enough to provide valuable legal tools for victims of rape (and for the suspects as well, I guess).  We cannot have this woman be one stroke away from the Presidency.

Thanks to John Taplin’s Blog for letting me know about this video!  This beats even Rush Limbaugh for hypocrisy and constant self-contradiction (or what some people call “bald-faced lying”).

How could this be allowed to happen?  Have you people all got amnesia?  Or do you just roll whichever way the mainstream media slants?

John McCain’s wife is a thieving drug addict! February 21, 2008

..or at least she used to be.  Now, I know there’s gotta be some chronic abuse of pharmaceuticals amongst the readers of Nuclear Rays, but I doubt y’all steal from charities to do it.

Cindy’s biggest claim to fame is in 1989 she developed an addiction to percocet and vicodin, two powerful morphine based pain killers. In 1993 she was caught stealing percocet from supply of the American Voluntary Medical Team, a charity she founded to provide health care and medications to war victims in underdeveloped nations. The DEA was investigated her and with the intervention of her well connected parents and McCain himself, Cindy got off the hook with the usual 90 day trip to the posh rehab. The American Voluntary Medical Team folded shortly after it ceased to be a supply point for Cindy’s opiate habit.

The  DEA agreed to keep Cindy’s little misadventure in Lala Land from the public, but then Cindy went and terminated the guy who reported her to the DEA and the details of Cindy’s sordid past as a suburban trophy wife junkie all came out when the fired guy filed a wrongful termination suit against Cindy.

A few weeks after Cindy came clean about her addiction the Variety Club cancelled her Humanitarian of the Year Award.

Click on the link to read more–this little Paris Hilton for the political jet set has no place trying to trash Michelle Obama for anything.  Stealing pills from war victims is beyond unpatriotic, it’s immoral, evil, and unnecessary–if you need pills, just ask Rush Limbaugh!  He’s got the good stuff.  The fact that she folded her charity so easily and fired the staffer who reported her only prove that she’s a selfish and dumb opportunist.  That doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll have a negative effect on John McCain’s presidency, but she doesn’t need to–that flip-flopping Bush hugger is negative enough.

P.S. Thanks to The Talent Show for clueing me in on this.
